George Lakoff has been teaching cognitive science and linguistics at UC Berkeley for more than 40 years. He is the author of several highly influential books in linguistics and in embodied cognition - and how those two fields are incredibly intertwined. He also has written extensively on language, values, and politics.
Among his books are Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things (1990), Philosophy In The Flesh (1999), Metaphors We Live By (2003), Don't Think of an Elephant!: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate--The Essential Guide for Progressives (2004), and The Political Mind: A Cognitive Scientist's Guide to Your Brain and Its Politics (2008).

George Lakoff is Richard and Rhoda Goldman Distinguished Professor of Cognitive Science and Linguistics at the University of California at Berkeley, where he has taught since 1972.
