Villa Treville is the historic home that belonged to Franco Zeffirelli. The estate, located on a private stretch of the Amalfi Coast overlooking the clear waters of Positano, has today become an exclusive relais on the sea: lawns and gardens, pergola tangled with wisteria and majolica tiles are interspersed with vegetable gardens and centuries-old tropical plants.
Amid this riot of harmonious colours and scents arise four dream homes, which over time have become dwellings that are part of the very fabric of the landscape.
At Villa Treville, there has always been an atmosphere of art and culture. The property was bought around the 1920s by Mikhail Semenov, the Russian writer, who was the first to gather around him that cultural ferment that has always characterised Positano.

With Franco Zeffirelli, the property was often visited by dancers, musicians, painters, intellectuals and artists: Liz Taylor and her husbands, Leonard Bernstein, Laurence Olivier, Maria Callas, Liza Minnelli, Elton John, Carla Fracci, to name just a few. At Villa Treville, Leonard Bernstein wrote the music for the film ‘Brother Sun, Sister Moon’, and it was also here that Zeffirelli conceived of his greatest theatre works, as well as some of his most important screenplays.
