Sainsbury's has caved to a campaign, triggered by a 3-year-old girl, to change the name of its Tiger bread to Giraffe bread.

Sainsbury's Tiger bread becomes Giraffe bread on advice of 3-year-old

The new Giraffe loaves went on sale yesterday, eight months after toddler Lily Robinson sent a letter to the supermarket suggesting the splotches on the bloomer's crust resemble more a giraffe's pelt than that of a tiger.
Sweet: Lily Robinson's letter to Sainsbury's.

Sainsbury's customer manager Chris King happened to agree with Lily and responded with a letter that started: "I think renaming the bread giraffe bread is a brilliant idea - it does look more like the blotches on a giraffe than the stripes on a tiger, doesn't it?

Customer's always right: customer manager agrees with Lily.
He went on to explain the origins of the bread's name and questioned the Zoology skills of the baker who came up with it.
"It is called tiger bread because the first baker who made it a looong (sic) time ago thought it looked a bit stripey like a tiger. Maybe they were a bit silly.
He also included a three pound gift voucher for Lily to spend in the store, which she could use "to buy some tiger bread (and maybe if mum and dad say it is OK you can get some sweetioes too!)"
Lily's mother went on to upload the letters to Facebook, starting the 'Campaign to change Tiger Bread to Giraffe Bread at Sainsbury's' which went viral, registering hundred of Facebook 'likes' and comments, and nudging Sainsbury's into action.
A spokesman for the store said: ‘In response to overwhelming customer feedback that our tiger bread has more resemblance to a giraffe, from today we will be changing our tiger bread to giraffe bread and seeing how that goes.’
Customer manager Mr King received hundreds of compliments for his thoughtful response and is now training to be a primary school teacher.
The 73p bloomer loaf takes on the giraffe-like crust as a result of rice paste being brushed onto the surface before baking, and cracking as it dries.
Taste the difference: formerly Tiger Bread, now Giraffe Bread
